A large percentage of the fatal accidents of drunk drivers occur on weekends and holidays. Many people believe that New Year's Eve is the night when the most drunken driving accidents occur but the holiday that has the largest number of drunk driving fatalities by far is Thanksgiving.

Most DUIs occur at night (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) and over half occur on weekends. For all crashes, the alcohol involvement rate was 5 percent during the week and 12 percent during the weekend.

You don't have to feel intoxicated to experience diminished driving skills. Generally, most don't appear "drunk" when they get behind the wheel. A little know fact is that drinking alcohol reduces a person's depth perception which is essential for safe driving.
